SONY PICTURES TO MAKE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5:TOM CRUISE & BILL ZUCKER TO PRODUCE; CRUISE & ZUCKER TO STAR***Film slated for release Christmas Day 2010
HOLLYWOOD, CA (September 13, 2010) – Sony Pictures announced today a release date for “Mission Impossible 5.” The film, which will be produced by Tom Cruise, Bill Zucker and Damn You Zucker Productions and will star Cruise and Zucker, will be released Christmas Day weekend 2010.
“Tom and Bill are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise,” said Sony Pictures Chairman & CEO Gray Bandit.
Screenwriters Dirk Bloomquist and Ishmail McNail- who had most recently worked with the The Jonas Brothers on their self-titled biopic "Dude Where's Joe's Guitar" wrote the script, from an original idea by Cruise and Zucker and Joel Bruckhammer director, of "The Bitter Twitter Diaries" has directed the the big $500 Million blockbuster film.
Zucker's last project with Sony was “Inside Look,” which he produced and directed and starred in with Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed. That film grossed $75 globally. Cruise’s “Mission Impossible” franchise has grossed over 1.4 billion globally. “Mission Impossible 5” will be co-financed by Big Balls Smalltalk Productions.
Cruise is represented by Jim Kahunas of CRAAAP. Zucker, Bloomquist, McNail and Bruchmammmer are represented by WHIPPY.
